Trionfa Oppennheimer alla 96esima cerimonia degli Oscar, andata in scena nella notte (ora italiana) al Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles. La pellicola diretta da Christopher Nolan si aggiudica sette delle tredici statuette per le quali era candidata. Batte American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Handlovers, Killers of The Flower Moon, Maestro, Past Lives, Poor Things e The Zone of Interest. Vince, tra le altre, le categorie miglior film, regia, attore protagonista, attore non protagonista, colonna sonora.

Ma è un trionfo anche per Poor Things che conquista diversi riconoscimenti, primo tra tutti per l’interpretazione femminile di Emma Stone, alla sua seconda statuetta (la prima per La La Land). Il film viene premiato anche per i costumi di Holly Waddington, per il makeup e l’hairstyling con Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier e Josh Weston; per la scenografia di James Price e Shona Heath e Set Decoration di Zsuzsa Mihalek. L’Oscar per la migliore attrice non protagonista va a Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Vince su Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, America Ferrera, Jodie Foster.

Miglior film d’animazione ‘Il ragazzo e l’Airone’ di Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki. Per la fotografia Oppenheimer che batte El Conde, Killers of The Flower Moon, Maestro, Poor Things. Una statuetta anche all’Ucraina con il documentario ’20 giorni a Mariupol’ di Mstyslav Chernov, Michelle Mizner and Raney Aronson-Rath.

Miglior corto a ‘The last repair shop‘ di Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers. Per l’editing vince Jennifer Lame per Oppenheimer. Non ce la fa Matteo Garrone con ‘Io Capitano’ a battere i contendenti nella cinquina. L’Oscar per il migliore film straniero va a ‘The Zone of Interest’.
